About
About Pedal & Pint
An independent guide to kids' bikes, published by Iron Mako Media and written by Mike M.. It exists because almost every kids-bike guide sizes bikes by age — the one measurement that does not determine fit.

Why this site exists
Buying a first bike is a decision most parents make once or twice, under time pressure, three weeks before a birthday, knowing their child's age and almost nothing else. The guides you find in that moment mostly sort bikes by age, and age is the wrong input.
Here is the evidence, from the manufacturers themselves. For a five-year-old, woom recommends a bike requiring a 19.1 inch minimum inseam. Prevelo recommends one that fits from 15.5 inches. Guardian publishes a 16.25 inch minimum leg length. Same child, nearly four inches of disagreement — because they are describing different bikes for different legs, and the age band is doing no real work.
So this site is built around one measurement, taken in two minutes with a book and a wall: your child's inseam. Everything else follows from it.
Who writes it
Mike M. — Mike M. is the hands-on owner behind Iron Mako Media. He built Pedal & Pint after going through the kids-bike buying maze himself and finding that almost every guide sizes bikes by age — the one measurement that doesn't actually determine fit.
That is the whole byline, and it is deliberately modest. There is no invented certification here, no claimed years of testing, no "our expert panel". This niche is full of unverifiable authority claims, and being precise about what we do and do not know is the more useful position.
Who publishes it
Pedal & Pint is published by Iron Mako Media, an independent publisher. No manufacturer has any editorial input into this site, and no brand has paid for placement or position.
What we will not claim
We have not ridden most of the bikes on this site, and every product card says so in those words. We research published manufacturer specifications, compare minimum saddle heights against real inseam ranges, compare weight against published pediatric body-weight medians, and link to every source so you can check us.
You will not find a star rating anywhere here, because we have no first-party testing data that would justify one. You will not find a review count, a testimonial, or a "trusted by thousands" claim, because this is a new site and those would be fabrications. The full standard is on how we choose.
How the site makes money
Affiliate links, disclosed on every page that carries one. Pedal & Pint is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, and we earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you.
The clearest proof that commission does not drive the rankings: several of the bikes we rate most highly — woom, Guardian, Prevelo — pay us nothing whatsoever, because we have no affiliate relationship with any of them, and we recommend them anyway. Full details on our affiliate disclosure.
