What size bike for a 8 year old?
Most 8-year-olds land on a 20" geared, moving to 24". But the brands themselves quote inseam ranges spanning 18.3 to 32.3 inches for this exact age, which is why the answer has to start with a tape measure and not a birthday.
Age is the wrong input. The right one is inseam, and it takes two minutes to get. A 8-year-old at the 50th percentile weighs about 56.3 lb, but body weight and leg length are only loosely related — which is why two children the same age routinely need different bikes.
